Palestine: civilian survival, displacement and the documentary record

CURRENT · HISTORYFifth Social editorial
Follow Gaza and the West Bank through dated humanitarian reports, community survival work and primary records, with clear distinctions between reported figures, verified observations and legal documents.
Read the date before the number OCHA's Humanitarian Situation Report titled 15 October 2026 was published on 19 October and generally covers 29 September–12 October. It describes continued reported civilian casualties in Gaza, displacement risks, inadequate shelter, and pressure on food, health and water services. The report identifies the organizations behind its figures. Keep those attributions and observation periods attached to any number shared from it. [1] People sustaining each other The same report records community-led winter preparations: families reinforcing shelters, managing drainage and storing water. Read these accounts alongside barriers to supplies and safe relocation. They document people's agency and daily collective work as well as harm. [1] Gaza and the West Bank OCHA's separate September publication tracks West Bank settler attacks, property damage, displacement and access restrictions from January 2023 through August 2026. The ICRC's September 2026 account describes its work with local partners during the first half of the year, including health care and the consequences of continuing violence. These sources cover different places and periods. [2][3] Following the legal record The International Court of Justice's case register provides access to South Africa v. Israel documents. Read each item by its date and type: a party's application or submission, an interim order and a final judgment serve different purposes. Keep humanitarian documentation, legal arguments and judicial findings identifiable as you build a longer history. [4]
